Your Informationist at the Welch Medical Library
My name is Rob Wright, and I am your informationist at the Welch Medical Library. Informationists are a new breed of librarian, dedicated to being embedded in the work and learning that you do, responding to your highly specialized information needs, and providing support when and where you need it.
I have a strong background in science and librarianship that will help me fill this role. After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rice University, I worked for four years as a research technician in labs at Baylor College of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and Lexicon Genetics. After earning my master’s degree in library science, I provided library services to research departments at the University of Houston for eight years.
I provide informationist services to basic science students, staff, and faculty in the School of Medicine. In particular, I am the liaison to the following departments – Biological Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics & Biophysical Chemistry, Cell Biology, Cellular & Molecular Medicine, the Institute of Genetic Medicine, Molecular & Comparative Pathobiology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Neuroscience, Pharmacology & Molecular Sciences, and Physiology.
Please contact me with library- and information-related questions. I can help with literature searching, access questions, citation management, publishing, finding research protocols, and much more!
